Yesterday I read a fascinating book set to release on September 30:

John Mark Reynolds and Roger Overton, eds. The New Media Frontier: Blogging, Vlogging, and Podcasting for Christ. With a foreword by Hugh Hewitt. Wheaton: Crossway, 2008. 254 pp.

      I have not listened to the MP3s yet (they are downloading as I type), but I would be surprised if this seminar is not a thoughtful, reasonable, respectful, logical argument for separation as held by historic fundamentalists. Kevin Bauder is a sharp thinker and gifted theologian. If you don’t have much exposure to fundamentalism or if the exposure you’ve had to it has been disappointing, you may be pleasantly surprised with Bauder. (Some of his writings are available here.)

      Bob Yarbrough on Computer Technology and Exegesis

      Robert W. Yarbrough insightfully answers this question posed by Collin Hansen in a CT interview published today:

      How has computer technology contributed to our understanding of 1-3 John?

      One can also do word analyses and various grammatical and syntactical searches of the New Testament or related writings with a speed, ease, and comprehensiveness previously undreamt of. Ease of access to reference works eliminates tedious book hunting and page turning. A downside is that every decade we move farther into computer technology, the greater the danger becomes that younger scholars will lack the hands-on intimacy with the text that pen and paper demanded, and the ingrained, deeply intuitive grasp of the text that a trained memory can arrive at. Voluminous information easily accessible can not only obscure but actually stunt creative and historically responsible scholarship.

      Harold Netland on Religious Pluralism

      The fifth CCI esssay is now available: Harold A. Netland, “One Lord and Savior for All? Jesus Christ and Religious Diversity.” Netland, who studied under John Hick, authored Encountering Religious Pluralism: The Challenge to Christian Faith and Mission (Downers Grove: IVP, 2001).
