Short Animated Videos That Summarize Each Book of the Bible

December 14, 2016 by Andy Naselli

The Bible Project is brilliant. Tim Mackie and Jon Collins creatively summarize the the message of each book of the Bible (and some themes in the Bible) remarkably well. I quibble with some minor aspects of the videos, but overall they’re ingenious. They are so accessible that I have watched all of them with my children, and they are so thoughtful that I show some of them to my graduate students in the classroom.

Here are the videos summarizing each book of the Bible: [Read more…] about Short Animated Videos That Summarize Each Book of the Bible

ESV Reader’s Bible—Wow!

October 11, 2016 by Andy Naselli

Just minutes ago I opened a package from Crossway. Opening it up was an even better experience than opening up an Apple product.

And the product itself blew me away. I knew it would be good, but I didn’t expect it to be that good. It made me audibly gasp, “Wow!” several times.

Here it is:

ESV Reader’s Bible. 6 vols. Wheaton, IL: Crossway, 2016.

Read Books of the Bible in One Sitting

August 16, 2016 by Andy Naselli

PaauwHere’s my latest ally for why you should read books of the Bible in one sitting:

Glenn R. Paauw. Saving the Bible from Ourselves: Learning to Read and Live the Bible Well. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2016.

(See my DG article “Three Tips for Better Bible Reading” and my follow-up post that supplements it.)

I learned about this book when I listened to Tony Reinke’s fascinating 30-minute interview with Paauw. It didn’t take long for me to get the book and read it—particularly chapters 1–4.

August 9, 2016 by Andy Naselli

MerkleThis book releases this month:

Benjamin L. Merkle. Ephesians. Exegetical Guide to the Greek New Testament. Nashville: Broadman & Holman, 2016.

My endorsement:

Merkle is a clear, concise, and informed guide to refer to when exegeting Ephesians, especially for tracing Paul’s argument and understanding his grammar and syntax. [Read more…] about Ben Merkle on Ephesians
