Logos 6 Releases Today

October 27, 2014 by Andy Naselli

Here’s what’s new in Logos 6:

I’ve been using Logos 6 each day for the last few weeks, and it’s a beautiful design. It has some new bells and whistles, but by far my favorite new feature is that you can hide all the chapter and verse numbers in Bibles—whether Hebrew, Greek, or English. I love this feature! (I explain why here and here.)

You can learn more about Logos 6 here (note the coupon code for 15% off) and here.

Is it free to upgrade the engine to 6?

I’m not sure. I suggest that you ask Logos directly for details.

    Perhaps you can answer this…

In the past, you have been able to download the most base system of Logos (Libronix, I believe) but it never really allowed me to get a feel for the software.

Do you know if there is any sort of trial for the various levels of Logos? I would love to try the silver package (certain features I find intriguing is only in Silver and above), as $850 is a lot to spend.

The engine upgrade will be made available in February.

However, some of the best functions of the software require resources in the base packages. There are a range of crossgrades and base packages available at various price points. http://www.logos.com/6 to see all the details. Hope that helps!

    Andy,

What do you think about the proposition-flow functionality which I see previewed in the demo video on their site at ~1:27? Since you have gotten to use it, have they added the ability to do argument diagrams (e.g. arcs, brackets, &c.)? It looks like a sweet update. Thanks for the post!

    With joy,
    -David

I asked someone at Logos about this. Here’s his reply:

The propositional outline visual filter is a pre-made graphic layout that can be applied to morphologically tagged English and Greek Texts, but only in the NT. We have a plan for creating user created layouts, but this functionality is not currently available.

Thanks Andy! I upgraded to a sweet base package today. There are a *ton* of helpful features included in this version, and I agree with you that the ability to show/hide numbers, non-bible text, and footnote indicators is a feature that will be put to work daily. I for one am glad to dismiss section headings! ;) See you in January brother!

Just before and around the 2nd minute the video mentions matte painting and 3D modeling being done of some archaeological areas.

I think that that is reason enough to get Logos! That has incredible potential for the future in particular in terms of teaching. This can go forward in so many incredible ways. Just amazing!

You want to get Logos not just for what it is now, which is amazing, but for where it could go in the future. Sorry to rhapsodize like that but anyway…

    In Christ,
    ~ Raj
