Women in the Church: An Interpretation and Application of 1 Timothy 2:9–15

July 5, 2016 by Andy Naselli

womenCrossway recently released this book’s third edition:

Andreas J. Köstenberger and Thomas R. Schreiner, eds. Women in the Church: An Interpretation and Application of 1 Timothy 2:9–15. 3rd ed. Wheaton, IL: Crossway, 2016.

In 2009 I reviewed the book’s second edition.

“The Definitive Analysis of 1 Timothy 2:12; A Review of Andreas J. Köstenberger and Thomas R. Schreiner, eds., Women in the Church: An Analysis and Application of1 Timothy 2:9–15.” Journal for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood 14 (Spring 2009): 71–73.

After working through the third edition, I stand by what I wrote when I reviewed the second edition. And the third edition is even better.

For what’s new in the third edition, see the first three pages of the introduction (pp. 19–21), which you can read in a sample 27-page PDF.

Update in July 2025: See “God’s Good Design for Men and Women and 1 Timothy 2:9–15.”
